Bills Bolster Offensive Line after Tommy Doyle Injury

It seems like the offensive line has been a worry for the Bills and their fan base for the last few seasons now. Why wouldn't it be when you have a generational talent at QB. With the season-ending injury to Tommy Doyle, the Bills needed to add some depth to right side. They did, and they did it quickly with a familiar face...

The Bills have confirmed the acquisitions of offensive tackle Garrett McGhin and running back Ty Johnson in a late Monday afternoon announcement. McGhin's journey with the Bills began as an undrafted free agent after the conclusion of the 2019 NFL Draft. However, he was subsequently released by the team during the August roster cuts that same year. Notably, McGhin made a return to the Bills in April of 2020, only to be released once again later in the summer.

After his departure from One Bills Drive in 2020, McGhin embarked on NFL stints with several teams including the Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and most recently, the New York Giants. His football experience also extends to the USFL, having played for the New Jersey Generals and Arlington Renegades. Impressively, McGhin was selected for the inaugural All-USFL roster in 2022. While his primary contribution is expected to be within the rotational depth at tackle, it's worth noting that he possesses versatility, having experience at both guard and center positions.

As for Johnson, his NFL journey commenced with the Detroit Lions before he found a place with the Jets. The Jets waived Johnson this spring due to an injured pectoral muscle.
